the urology department, in addition to the disorders of the urine production
and excretory systems (kidneys, internal urinary canals, bladder, prostate and
external urinary canal) of men and women, diagnosis and surgical treatments of
male reproductive and sexual diseases are carried out.

Diseases and treatments
served in the Urology Department;

Kidney and Urinary
Canal Stones

All
of the endoscopic methods used in the treatment of kidney and urinary canal
stones (Flexible / Semi-Rigid Ureterorenoscopy, Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy
(PNL), ESWL) are successfully applied at Kolan International Hospital. You can
click here for detailed information about
the ESWL method .

Infertility

Varicocele

Varicocele is the dilation and varicose of the veins leading to the
testicles. Varicocele may be due to solvable causes such as obstruction
and inflammation in the way the sperm is transported, as well as serious
diseases such as testicular cancer and brain tumor (prolactinoma).

Sexually transmitted diseases

Penis and Foreskin Diseases

Sexual Dysfunctions

Early, Fast,
Quick ejaculation

Premature
Ejaculation

Ejaculation
orgasm disorders

Vasectomy

It is the connection of male reproductive tracts by surgical operation. After
the application, the possibility of the man to conceive is eliminated. This
operation does not change the sexual life of the man.

Penile Implantation

Penile prosthesis or popularly known as happiness bar is a surgical method
applied to men who cannot perform penile erection naturally and do not respond
to simpler treatments.

Kidney tumor

Kidney cancer is a mass formed by the uncontrolled proliferation of kidney
cells. This mass is different from normal kidney tissue in terms of
structure and function.

Benign (benign tumors)

Kidney cysts are examples of benign tumors.

Usually
they are not life threatening.

They
do not recur when treated or surgically removed.

They
do not spread to the surrounding tissues and other organs of the body.

Malignant
(malignant tumors)

They
can be life threatening.

Even
if removed surgically, they can grow back.

They
can damage the surrounding tissues and pass into surrounding tissues.

They
can spread to other parts of the body.

Testicular (Ovarian) tumor

When a mass or a hard formation is detected in the testicle, it should be
considered that there may be a tumor and the necessary examinations and tests
should be performed.

Prostate tumor

Prostate
cancers are the most common cancers in men. It is the second type of
cancer that causes death after lung cancers in men. It is very rare under
the age of 50. It is usually seen after the age of 70 and its frequency
increases as the age progresses.

Prostate Surgery

Laser Prostatectomy:

The GreenLight-Green Light-Laser method, which has become a very effective
treatment alternative in recent years, has been successfully used in the
surgical treatment of benign prostate enlargement.

TUR-prostatectomy

In this method, which is applied endoscopically (closed), the area of
the prostate is reached by entering the urethra (external urinary canal) and
the prostate is cut with an electrocautery and taken out. In our hospital,
in addition to standard TUR-P surgery, Bipolar-Plasmakinetic TUR is applied in
cases where necessary.

Open
prostatectomy

It is applied in cases where TUR-P surgery is not possible due to severe
prostate enlargement and the presence of external urinary tract stenosis or
large bladder stones.

Prostate
Benign Growth (BPH)

One of the most common diseases of aging men is benign prostate enlargement. Half
of the men over the age of 50 are either taking medication or undergoing
surgery for this reason.

Laser prostatectomy: The

Greenlight-Green
Light-Laser method, which has become a very effective treatment alternative in
recent years, has been successfully used in the surgical treatment of benign
prostate enlargement.

TUR-prostatectomy: In this

 endoscopic
(closed) method, the area of the prostate is reached by entering the urethra
(external urinary canal) and the prostate is cut with an electrocautery and
taken out. In our hospital, in addition to standard TUR-P surgery,
Bipolar-Plasmakinetic TUR is applied in cases where necessary.

Open prostatectomy

 It
is applied in cases where TUR-P surgery is not possible due to severe prostate
enlargement and the presence of external urinary tract stenosis or large
bladder stones

Fusion Prostate Biopsy

Biopsy should be performed for the correct and definitive diagnosis of prostate
cancer, which is among the most common cancers in men. Biopsy application,
which is necessary for the definitive diagnosis of prostate cancer, has reached
a different point with the developing technological possibilities. In
other words, classical prostate biopsy has been replaced by “fusion
biopsy” with technological innovations for patient comfort and some
advanced applications.

In particular, multiparametric prostate MRI is performed in patients before
fusion biopsy, which prevents the missed prognosis of some aggressive prostate
tumors and enables accurate determination of the cancer focus in the
patient. From the images in MRI, areas suspicious for prostate cancer are
identified and marked on MR images, and then the second stage is
passed. At this stage, the patient is put to sleep and the ultrasound
probe is placed in the anus region, and ultrasound and MR images are
matched. Prostate cancer areas that cannot normally be detected by ultrasound
become visible in this way. Fusion biopsy provides the necessary tissue
cells to be taken, especially by targeting the areas at risk for prostate
cancer and the tumor.

Thanks to this method, all prostate cancers, especially aggressive (rapidly
progressing) cancers, can be determined with a higher rate of accurate
diagnosis.

What are the advantages of Prostate Fusion Biopsy?

Sampling
is performed from areas with tumor risk, with minimal deviation and error.

The
need for repeat biopsy is reduced.

Unlike
standard blind biopsy, multiparametric MRI can directly biopsy suspicious
lesions.

It
enables faster diagnosis of clinically aggressive tumors.

It
allows taking biopsy from areas that cannot be visualized by ultrasound and are
technically difficult to sample.

Urological infections (cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis)

Incontinence problems in men and women and their treatment
(Incontinence)

It is uncontrolled urinary incontinence (incontinence) that aggravates
social and hygienic conditions. It is known that women have 15% -50%
stress incontinence. Incontinence problems are more common in women over
middle age. The problem in question is a situation that can be treated and
has a solution at any age.

Testicular Diseases

Undescended
testicle

Hydrocele

It is the case when the amount of fluid between the layers of the
protective sheath of the testicle, which is a male reproductive organ, exceeds
normal. It can be treated with medical and surgical methods.

Spermatocele

Spermatocele; It is a pouch-shaped formation containing a milky
liquid substance. It is also called “spermatic cyst” as it can
contain sperm in the fluid inside. It is located in the sperm carrier
channel called “epididymis”, which is separate from the testis and
adjacent to the upper pole of the testicle. It can be detected up to 30
percent in scrotal ultrasonography applications in adults.

Testicular Infection (Orchitis) and Epididymitis (Epididymitis)

The infection of the epididymis is called “epididymitis” and the
infection of the testicle is called “orchitis”. Infections of
these two organs are rapidly treated with appropriate antibiotic therapy, but
they are infections that require early diagnosis and treatment due to potential
complications such as infertility.

Andrology

Male reproductive system is a branch of science that examines all
disorders that affect male or female sexual health, as well as changes that
occur due to aging in men. Diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the
field of andrology are evaluated within the scope of a separate discipline
within the Urology Clinic and the most modern methods and technology are used
in treatment.

In the diagnosis and treatment process of infertility, a multidisciplinary
approach is carried out together with the IVF Center. All treatments
related to infertility are carried out with teamwork, and modern surgical
methods such as microsurgical varicocelectomy and microsurgery (microsurgical
sperm retrieval from testicles) are used.

Gender Uncertainty (Intersex)

The presence of uncertainty in the external genital organs of the born
baby, that is, the inability to distinguish between male and female or to have
signs of the opposite sex is called “intersex”. The reason for this type
of disorder is; Chromosomal disorders, deficiency or excess of some
hormones, and exposure to drugs that are objectionable to use during pregnancy. Such
patients should be evaluated as soon as possible by a team consisting of a
neonatal specialist, pediatric endocrinologist, pediatric urologist, child
psychiatrist, and geneticist. As a result of this evaluation, it should be
determined which gender the child is closer to, and a decision should be made
on which gender to continue. After this decision is made, certain
treatments and surgeries should be applied to the baby or child to correct the
sex. Such treatments should be completed before the sexual identity of the
child is formed.
