Kidney Diseases (Nephrology)

Nephrology is the science that examines the diseases of the excretory system, including the
kidneys, bladder and urinary tract.

In Kolan Hospital Group Nephrology Department, all kinds of follow-up and treatment of our
patients who receive continuous dialysis treatment are performed.

Diseases and treatments served in the Nephrology Department;

• Kidney Inflammation (such
  as Nephritis, cystitis, pyelonephritis, tubular diseases)
• Renal Failure (Acute or chronic)
• Urinary Tract Infections
• Hypertension (Kidney Origin)
• Diabetic Neuropathy
• Polycystic kidney disease

Polycystic kidney disease is the most common inherited kidney disease. In this disease,
which occurs equally in men and women, there are many cyst formation in various
organs in the body.

The most important risk of this disease is that it causes kidney failure in the
future. Polycystic kidney disease is the cause of kidney failure in 5-10%
of patients who require dialysis treatment due to kidney failure or who have
undergone kidney transplantation.

The following complaints may occur in polycystic kidney disease.

• Back and flank pain
• Blood in the urine
• Urinary tract infection
• High blood pressure (hypertension)

If polycystic kidney patients do not receive adequate and timely treatment,
problems such as heart valve disorders, aneurysms in various vessels
(especially brain vessels), diverticula in the intestines (enlargement of the
intestinal wall in the form of a glove finger) and hernia (hernia) may occur.

The diagnosis of polycystic kidney disease is made by ultrasonography, computed
tomography or magnetic resonance imaging.

• Kidney cancer can arise from the part of the kidney where urine is produced (parenchyma) and the part where the produced urine is collected (collecting system). Kidney tumors that can be treated by medical or surgical methods are cancers with a high
  chance of being treated if detected at an early stage.
• Visible bleeding in the urine, back or flank pain, and seeing a doctor for diagnosis and treatment increases the possibility of catching kidney cancers in the early period.
