What is Sperm Freezing?

It is the process of freezing the sperm sample taken from the male in various ways (including
operation) in a laboratory environment for later use in IVF treatment. Under
what conditions is it recommended?

• Before chemotherapy in testicular cancer or other cancer treatments,

• Before the use of drugs or surgical procedures that may impair sperm production,

• In men whose sperm count is very low and this situation may worsen,

• Men who have ejaculation problems due to spinal cord injuries,

• Work during treatment Those who have to be out of the city (provided that they are for a short time)

Is the Sperm Freezing Procedure safe and how is it done?

We recommend 3 days of sexual abstinence for this procedure and we ensure that it gives samples in a
comfortable, clean and suitable environment in our center. In cases where
the sperm count is low or the patient cannot give sperm by masturbation, the
sperm sample is taken by surgical methods. These procedures are performed
under local or general anesthesia. It is important not to prolong the
duration of sexual abstinence, because as the period increases, the sperm count
will increase and sperm motility and quality will decrease.
The collected sperm are analyzed before
freezing. In semen analysis; sperm count, motility and structure are
evaluated. Thus, the healthiest sperms are selected and frozen. If
the sperm sample taken is not of the desired quality, our doctor may ask you to
give a sperm sample once again. After the sperm analysis is completed, the
sample taken is frozen at -196 degrees using a specially formulated sperm
freezing fluid and can be stored in this way for years.
