We provide professional support in Lumbar Hernia.
On our back, there are 31 vertebrae that start from the
neck area and extend down from our hips and form the spinal canal.
Five of these vertebrae are located in the lumbar region
where problems occur when herniated. Between these vertebrae bones there
is a special connective tissue in the form of a disc that facilitates movement,
makes the spine durable and protects against impacts.
This disc consists of two parts as inner and outer
layers. When the structure of the outer layer deteriorates, the inner soft
layer spills out. This overflowing (herniated) part puts pressure on the
nerves in the spinal canal and compresses these nerves. Sometimes,
chemical substances are secreted from this herniated area and pain is
felt. The disease that occurs in this way is called herniated disc.
More than 80 percent of the society suffers from low back
pain at least once in their lifetime. For this reason, the number of
people applying to a doctor is quite high. It is frequently seen in middle
age, but it can occur at any age. There is a high probability of having a
herniated disc in people who work sitting and do this on the wrong
chair. Those who have to lift heavy loads, behave carelessly while doing
sports, start exercising without warming up, and those who have posture and
sitting disorders are at risk.
Smoking and alcohol use, which are considered risk
factors in almost every disease, can also trigger lumbar hernia. Those who
have a stressful and restless life are also likely to have a herniated
disc. The more you are exposed to these risks, the more likely you are to
have a herniated disc.
In addition to these factors, we should not forget the
hereditary (family) factors. Those with herniated disc in their family are at risk.
Surgical treatment (surgery) should not be the first
choice of treatment. Methods such as the use of drugs called conservative
therapy, lying in a hard bed, and physical therapy are applied. These help
to cure many herniated disc diseases. Muscle relaxants and pain
medications are preferred. If necessary, the patient is recommended to
exercise. If improvement is not achieved with these, surgery is
required. The imaging methods made for this make a great contribution to
the decision of surgery.
Nowadays, laser surgeries have become widespread. If
the disease has progressed, surgery should be performed immediately. The
probability of success of the surgeries performed is over 90
percent. However, postoperative complications (side effects) have not been
completely eliminated. It should not be forgotten that herniated disc is a
disease that can be treated.
Health tourism aims to offer medical options to ensure the comfort of patients and their families. In parallel with the high level of education and welfare in developed countries, the provision of health services is also costly. The share of healthcare needs and healthcare expenses of the aging population in developed countries is increasing day by day. Increasing costs of social security costs are forcing social security institutions. In order to overcome these difficulties, social security institutions and private insurance institutions in developed countries are trying to get health services at low cost by making package agreements with countries that offer quality medical services and nearby.
In recent years, tourists come from all over the world for treatment purposes, as Turkey also provides health services at a level that can compete with qualified health services in developed countries. Especially after the 1990s, it was seen that the private sector made serious investments in health services in addition to public health services.
As a result of these developments, private health institutions have started to increase, especially in big cities, at a level that can compete with European standards. Opening these health facilities, which have high costs in terms of construction and operation, to foreign markets is gradually becoming a necessity in terms of reducing these costs. In addition, its geographical location and trained and educated manpower in the health sector are among the important advantages of Turkey in health tourism. In addition to the patients who come for medical purposes, health tourism offers healing with its thermal springs and thermal waters thanks to the natural richness of our country.
