We provide professional support in Neuro-oncology.
At the Neuro-oncology Department of Anadolu Medical
Center, we provide services to all neuro-oncology patients. The specialty of
neurosurgical oncology particularly deals with diagnosis and treatment of
malignant and benign brain tumors, spinal cord tumors and peripheral nerve
tumors.
It is known that 20-25% of cancer patients have brain or
spinal metastases. Our center has the equipment, technology and experience to
provide high-level healthcare services to patients with brain and spinal
tumors.
Treatment of brain and spinal tumors require a
comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach. At Anadolu Medical Center, we
deal with our patients with interdepartmental cooperation.

Benign brain tumors include pituitary adenoma, acoustic
neuroma and meningiomas. Malignant brain tumors that require surgical
intervention most are gliomas or metastatic lesions (spread from the part of
the body where it started to other parts of the body). Spinal tumors are often
metastatic tumors.
Spinal metastases are generally characterized by intense
pain and require treatment. Peripheral nerves and spinal cord tumors are
important as they cause pain and weakness in the patient due to their effects
on the nerves.

In deep-seated brain tumors, neuro-navigation technology
is used to minimize damage to normal brain tissue. These technologies help the
surgeon to reach deep-seated small tumors through a small incision. In these
cases, post-operative patient comfort is better than in other cases.
Furthermore, in addition to navigation-supported biopsies that aid diagnosis of
difficult lesions, Cyberknife® Radiosurgery method is used in the treatment of
some tumors. In addition, Video-EEG monitoring and brain mapping are auxiliary
methods that are used to locate tumors.
