We provide professional support in Retinal detachment.
Retinal detachment is the separation of the retinal tissue, which is formed by the nerve cells covering the inside of the eyeball,
from the nourishing tissue to which it is adjacent. It is a sudden
illness. If retinal detachment is not treated in a short time, permanent
blindness may occur.
Lightning flashes in the eyes,
flights,
blurred vision
It is the narrowing of the visual field starting from one region.
Ruptured retinal detachment: The majority of retinal detachments
are ruptured. The tear formed in the retina passes into the intraocular
fluid and separates it from the nourishing tissue.
Even light traction can cause a tear when the retina becomes thinner.
Vitreous detachment: As the vitreous (intraocular fluid) ages, it loses its gel
consistency and liquefies from place to place, spaces called lacunae are formed
in it, its volume decreases, and vitreous detachment occurs when it is
separated from the posterior pole of the eye.
High myopia: There is thinning and degeneration in both retinal periphery and liquefaction in
vitreous in high myopia. Therefore, the risk
of retinal detachment increases even more in myopic eyes.
Trauma: If the blows to the eye cause the eyeball to expand to the sides and stretch the
retina, it can cause a tear.
Developmental disorders: In some developmental and hereditary diseases,
the retinal tissue is thin and the risk of retinal detachment increases.
Tractional retinal detachment: This type of retinal detachment causes
retinal detachment due to traction on the retina without a tear.
Exudative retinal detachment: There is no tear or traction in this type of
detachment, so surgery is not required for its treatment. The fluid
collected under the retina (serous exudation) pushes the retina and lifts
it. The causes of exudation are:
Uveitis diseases
Age-related macular degeneration (yellow spot disease)
central serous chorioretinopathy
tumors
Preeclampsia and eclampsia in pregnancy
Ruptured retinal detachment and tractional retinal detachment are progressive.
The treatment is eye surgery. Visual acuity may be good at the beginning of the detachment, but this should not mislead the
physician and you, the operation should not be postponed. The treatment of
exudative retinal detachment is medical. Correction of blood factors
causing exudation, corticosteroid-containing drugs and intraocular injections
are appropriate. Ruptured retinal detachment and tractional retinal
