Private Doğa Hospital Neurology Unit has carried its diagnosis and treatment
services to a modern dimension by using its technological
equipment. Generally, Neurology is a branch of science that examines
diseases of the brain, brainstem, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system and
muscles, and includes treatment practices other than diagnosis and surgical
treatment. The main complaints of applying to neurology outpatient
clinics; Headaches, dizziness, strokes, illnesses that come with changes
in consciousness (epilepsy, epilepsy, etc.), hand and foot numbness, various
muscle weaknesses, movement disorders, cerebrovascular diseases, dementia,
sleep disorders, back and neck pain.
With
the rapid advances in medicine, Neurology has ceased to be a closed and limited
branch, and has been divided into sub-disciplines such as cerebrovascular
diseases, dementia, sleep disorders that require specialization. In all
these areas, it progresses with serious laboratory studies and a coordinated
relationship with other medical branches. It can be easily said that
Neurology is one of the branches in which medicine has developed the most
prominent development in recent years.
To evaluate neuropathies that occur with common
complaints such as hand and foot numbness, and to diagnose painful conditions
such as nerve compression and lumbar neck hernia, EMO (electro mioneurography)
examination, which is a dynamic diagnostic method, can be performed in the
electrophysiology laboratory. EMG is the only diagnostic method in
diabetic polyneuropathy, which causes burning and numbness in the feet,
especially in diabetes.
EEG
(electro encephalon graph), which is used for differential diagnosis in many
diseases of the central nervous system (headache, pain, dementia, sleep
disorders, etc.), especially epilepsy, can be performed in the
electrophysiology laboratory.
HOW
IS EEG TAKING PERFORMED?
The electrical activity of the brain is transmitted to
the EEG device through small metal electrodes placed on the scalp of the
patient and the data are recorded on the computer for an average of 20 minutes. It
is not possible to give electricity to the patient during the shooting and the
patient does not feel any pain. In order to make a quality,
interference-free recording, the patient should keep his / her eyes closed,
relax the jaw and neck muscles, and remain as still as possible, unless
otherwise desired.
It
is an examination performed during the day or night, 1 hour or night, 1 hour or
3 hours and all night. According to the decision of the physician
following the patient, it is applied especially in cases where routine EEG
examination is normal.
VIDEO
EEG MONITORING
(Simultaneous
video recording during EEG)
VIDEO
EEG monitoring may be required in some cases (for differentiating epileptic,
psychogenic or cardiovascular seizures that occur infrequently and are not
clear). VIDEO EEG monetarization is used to distinguish epileptic seizures
from non-epilepsy but epilepsy-like conditions, to precisely determine the
seizure type, and to observe the semiological features accompanying the
seizure.
