We provide professional support in Audiology
Audiology science, which works in the field of evaluation of the hearing system,
diagnosis of hearing loss, hearing aid application and adaptation in case of
hearing loss, has the opportunity to examine the hearing system in more detail
with the objective test approaches that are becoming widespread today.
Safses Audiometry and Tympanometry Measurements
Sound generators that are used to evaluate peripheral hearing and can produce
pure sounds are called audiometers.
In hearing tests performed with audiometers, hearing measurements are commonly
made at frequencies between 125 Hertz (Hz) and 8000 Hertz (Hz). The graph
obtained during impedance metric measurement is called the
“tympanogram”. The pressure value of the peak of the
permeability graph obtained in the tympanogram gives the pressure value of the
middle ear. There are different types of tympanogram seen in different
pathologies. Tympanometric measurements are an indispensable assessment
method, especially in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of middle ear
pathologies, and the objective information about the acoustic reflex increases
the value of this measurement tool.
ENG (VNG) Electronystagmography and Balance Tests
ENG is based on recording the eye movements (nystagmus) caused by the
corneoretinal potential difference by placing electrodes around the eyeball.
ABR / BERA (Auditory Brainstem Response)
It is the neuroelectric activity of the hearing system that occurs as a
response to a specific type of auditory stimulus (click, logo, tone
burst). Being a non-invasive measurement technique, easy and cheap
application is a factor that increases its value. Areas of use are quite
high.
The main ones are;
Patients with cooperation difficulties (such as babies, children and mentally disabled
people)
In obtaining information about objective hearing thresholds,
As differential diagnosis in the presence of lesion,
Detecting hearing loss in nonorganic hearing losses
It is used in the evaluation of coma stages and brain death.
Electrodes are attached to the head circumference and the responses resulting
from the sound given to the ear are recorded. It is the test that has an
important place especially in newborn hearing screening. It should be
applied to babies who fail the otoacoustic emission (OAE) test, which is the
screening test.
Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular Rehabilitation is a program created to accelerate the recovery
process for patients who do not respond to maneuver therapies, to repair the
psychology of the patient due to the illness, and to correct the problems in
daily life.
Otoacoustic Emission Test
It is a non-invasive test method used to determine the reaction of the cochlea
to auditory stimuli. The lens is fast, cheap and
reliable. Otoacoustic emission (OAE), which is very easily used in newborn
screening, has made it an indispensable test tool for audiology clinics. In
addition, it is easily used in patients who cannot be tested for hearing, very
young children, functional hearing loss, retrocochlear pathologies and in
various clinical areas such as monitoring drug ototoxicity.
Newborn Hearing screening
these tests are noninvasive, objective and physiological measurements that
screen newborns using national newborn hearing screening programs, OAE
(Otoacoustic emission) and ABR.
It is ideal to use both ABR and TEOAE as part of the hearing screening program.
