BREAST ENLARGEMENT (BREAST PROSTHESIS)

Breast augmentation surgery is to bring the breast to the desired size by placing a silicone prosthesis into a prepared space in the breast tissue. Depending on the condition of the person can be performed along with breast lifting surgery. The prosthesis may be placed behind the breast tissue, under subfascial (the fascia membrane) or behind the muscle according to the condition of the breast tissue. A scar of about 4-5 cm will form at the bottom of the breast. This scar fades over time and becomes barely noticeable. The operation is performed under general anesthesia. The patient is usually required to stay 1 night in the hospital. It has been proven that the prosthesis used today does not cause cancer and that there is no risk of “exploding”. Patients undergoing breast augmentation with silicone prosthesis do not need to have the prosthesis removed during pregnancy. However, correction of the breast may be needed after pregnancy because deformity may occur in the shape of the breast itself. In general, the presence of a prosthesis does not harm breastfeeding.
