Anesthesia and Reanimation

As the Anesthesia department in our hospital
you are in for treatment, we would like to enlighten you on the following
issues. This information will prepare you for the meeting with the
anesthesiologist (anesthesiologist). Your anesthesiologist will tell you
the most appropriate method for the planned surgery and will give you detailed
information about the risks and side effects, purpose and benefits. Please
ask your anesthesiologist all the questions you have in the light of the information
below and answer the questions asked to you completely. This information
will ensure that the service provided by our hospital’s healthcare team will be

What anesthesia methods are there and how are
they applied?

Painful examinations and treatments are
usually done under anesthesia. For this purpose, one or more of the
different methods are combined and applied.

General Anesthesia 

It removes the sense of pain and awareness of general
anesthesia, which resembles a deep sleep state. After a relaxing
medication given according to your excitement, a serum is placed on your hand
or arm. Administration of a fast and short-acting sleeping aid with serum
initiates anesthesia. Anesthesia is maintained with other anesthetic gases
and narcotic drugs added according to the type and length of the
surgery. Respiration needs to be supported in most surgeries. Used
for this purpose;

A breathing mask placed over the mouth, nose and throat
and / or

Oxygen and mostly gaseous anesthetic agents are given
together with the breathing tube (tube) placed in the trachea.

At the end of the surgery, you will wake up with the
cessation of anesthetic gases and other medications. As you wake up, you
are asked to swallow saliva in your mouth and breathe deeply. Necessary
precautions for your postoperative pain are taken by the anesthesiologist.

During and immediately after anesthesia, important organ
functions of the body (pulse, blood pressure, respiration, blood oxygenation
and electrocardiography, etc.) are continuously monitored by the
anesthesiologist with the help of monitors.

Local (Regional) Anesthesia 

In some cases, it may be sufficient to anesthetize the
operation area directly with an anesthetic drug (local anesthesia). In
regional (regional) anesthesia, the anesthetic drug is applied near the sensory
nerves of the intervention area, far from the intervention site. Unlike General
Anesthesia, pain is not perceived and the mobility of the anesthetized body
parts is generally restricted, while you can stay awake.
