oxygen, which is absolutely essential for life, is taken into the body and the
carbon dioxide formed in the body is expelled. There are two lungs in
humans, right and left. The lungs are located in the rib cage. A
membrane called a two-layer pleura surrounds both lungs.

What are complexes in chest diseases?

Since the lungs are organs through which systemic
circulation passes, they cause complaints not only for their own diseases but
also because of diseases related to other organs. The most important of
these complaints are as follows:

Diagnostic interventions used in chest diseases Respiratory function tests (pft) and reverzibility assessment

In the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of lung
diseases, respiratory function tests and reversibility determination
(spirometric tests) are performed within the respiratory
laboratory. Especially in the distinction between asthma-COPD, diagnosis
and treatment, diagnosis and follow-up of occupational diseases, PFT is
performed before operations when necessary. Patients who smoke and / or
want to quit are recommended to have PFT at least annually.

Allergy skin tests (act)

Allergy Skin Tests (Prick Tests), which have an important
place in the diagnosis of asthma and allergic diseases, are performed in the
respiratory laboratory. ACT is a test performed by dropping allergen
extracts on the skin of the arm, touching it with lancets or thin rods. It
is recommended for children after 2 years of age and is a tolerable diagnostic
tool for children. Asthma may accompany many allergic diseases such as
allergic rhinitis, pharyngitis and skin eczema. In recent studies, it has
been reported that nearly half of the children with asthma have food allergies. With
the Allergy Skin Test, nearly 50 food and respiratory allergens are applied
when necessary. Thanks to these tests, it is possible to be protected from
diseases first. Vaccination (immunotherapy) is planned in necessary cases.

Bronchoscopy
It has an important place especially in the early diagnosis and
staging of lung cancer. BRONCHOSCOPY (Flexible Fiberoptic
Bronchoscopy-FOB-) procedure is performed in our endoscopy unit by an
experienced chest diseases specialist. Bronchoscopy is the endoscopic
examination of the windpipe and bronchial tree (airways). The bronchoscopy
procedure, which we apply with Fujinon brand bronchoscope with video, is one of
the most important discoveries of medicine in recent years. It is an
intervention that does not require anesthesia and is performed by superficial
anesthesia and by anesthesia when necessary.

Thoracynthesis (plevra punction)

Fluid accumulation, which we call pleurisy, can be seen
in the lung membrane due to various diseases. In this case, it is possible
to examine the fluid taken by thoracentesis for diagnosis and / or treatment. This
procedure, which is also performed to drain the fluid in patients with shortness
of breath due to excess fluid accumulation in the lung membrane, is another
invasive method of chest diseases and is performed in our hospital.
