Facial sagging, under-eye bags, deep wrinkles are seen on the face due to aging,
gravity, stress, smoking, drinking, malnutrition, the effect of sunlight, etc.
In advanced
ages, the soft tissue on the face decreases and hangs downwards with the effect
of gravity over the facial bones. It is possible to describe this
situation as the skin of the face begins to appear abundantly. The purpose
of face lift surgeries is to eliminate this abundance and create a tenser and
lively skin.
With the facelift surgery, the sagging excesses in the face skin are removed, the thin
muscle layer under the skin is reshaped and stretched.
How to understand the old face appearance?
The changes caused by aging in the face area are as follows:
Clarification in forehead lines
Low eyebrows
Sagging of the eyelids
Lines at the edges of the eyes called crow’s feet
Bagging and lines under custody
Sagging cheeks and reduced fullness in the cheek area
Skin folds and deepening in the mouth-nose fold area
Distortion-disappearance in jaw contour lines
Sagging and fat in the neck and jowl area
Neck curtains-deep wrinkles
Increased sun spots on the face skin
How are facelift surgeries performed?
Facelift operations are divided into the upper face part that includes the forehead and
eyebrows, the mid-face part that includes the eye level and circumference, and
the lower face part that includes the mouth, chin and neck region, according to
the area of the
current problem. Purpose of facial rejuvenation surgery; It is to
hang the sagging and loosened skin tissues in different parts of the face to
their original places and to tighten the skin by removing excess sagging skin.
In facelift surgery, the scars are hidden in the scalp in the temple area, in the natural
folds in front of and behind the ear. Since the scars of the surgery are
hidden, they are not very visible.
Performing applications such as eyelid surgeries, skin peeling, filling – botox in
combination with facelift surgeries also increases the success.
How long is the operation time?
The operation takes 2-5 hours under general anesthesia. However, if procedures
such as lower and upper eyelid aesthetics, forehead lift and eyebrow lift are
performed together with isolated facial surgery, this period is prolonged.
What are the points to be considered in
the postoperative period?
After the operation, the patient stays in the hospital for one night and is then
discharged.
Although pain is not expected, pain can be seen as it can be relieved by painkillers. In
some cases, drains are placed to be removed after 1-2 days. It is possible
to see swelling and bruises on the face. However, it disappears almost
completely within 1-2 weeks. After this period, the patient returns to his
daily life.
The duration of the effective face lift surgeries performed on suitable patients lasts for
8-10 years. However, it is useful to keep in mind that aging continues in
the post-operative period.
