We provide professional support in Gastroenterology.
Gastroenterology is a branch of medicine that deals with
diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine (intestine),
liver, gallbladder and pancreas. The esophagus is the tube that connects
your mouth to your stomach. A muscular tube that contracts when you
swallow to push food through. The stomach is where food is broken down by
acid and emptied into your intestines. The stomach has special cells that
cover its wall to protect it from these acids. The intestines consist of
the small intestine and the large intestine. As food passes through the
small intestine, nutrients are broken down and absorbed. When it enters
the colon, water is absorbed. The remaining waste passes as
feces. The liver is on the right side just below the ribs. It stores
vitamins, sugar and iron used for energy in the cells of the body. It also
cleans the blood, it helps blood to clot and produces substances used to
aid the immune system and produces bile, which aids digestion. The
pancreas is an organ located at the back of the abdomen. It is responsible
for producing digestive juices and certain hormones, including insulin, the
main hormone responsible for regulating blood sugar.
A gastroenterologist studies all these organs and their
diseases. Performs endoscopic imaging of stomach and
intestines. Gastroscopy to view stomach and esophagus disorders, and
colonoscopy to view intestinal diseases are performed in our hospital with
state-of-the-art devices and in sterile environments. In addition, for the
comfort of our patient, sedation in all imaging procedures and general
anesthesia applications are also performed if our patient wishes.
