Endocrinology is the branch of science that
examines the endocrine glands in our body.

This examination contains the functions of the endocrine
glands and the hormones they secrete. Hormones control different activities in
our body. Different types of hormones control reproduction, metabolism, growth,
and development.

Hormones also control our response to the environment and help provide the proper amount of
energy and nutrients needed for our body’s functions.

Glands that make up the endocrine system; hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas,
ovaries (ovaries in women, testicles in men), and adrenal gland.

The duty of the endocrinology and
metabolic diseases department

Endocrinologists treat people who suffer from hormonal
imbalances because of a disease of the glands in the endocrine system or
certain types of cancer. The overall purpose of treatment is to restore the
normal hormone balance in a patient’s body.

Much of the work performed by an endocrinologist provides
the basis for ongoing research. In our hospital, our endocrinology and
metabolism department works in cooperation with other relevant department
specialists.
