Semen Analysis and Related Tests

The evaluation of semen analysis performed in Istanbul
IVF Center has a guiding and guiding importance in the treatment of the
patient. According to the result of the semen analysis test, IUI
(Vaccination), IVF (in vitro fertilization) or ICSI (intra cytoplasmic sperm
injection) procedures are decided in the treatment of the infertile couple. In
addition, when necessary, sperm freezing is used as the first step in guiding
TESA / TESE (sperm retrieval from testis) processes.

When evaluating sperm analysis, reporting is made taking into account the World
Health Organization (WHO) Laboratory Handbook and the “Kruger strik
criteria” in the evaluation of sperm morphology.

The semen analysis process is based on the examination of the sample given by
ejaculation in the IVF center. In order for this examination to be
performed, the patient needs 3 to 5 days of sexual abstinence. The
situations that have an important effect on the semen sample are as follows;

– Loss during sampling (the first part of the semen sample contains dense sperm count.)

Semen sample is evaluated macroscopically and microscopically after the
liquefaction period has passed. In microscopic examination, sperm count
and motility (mobility) are reported by counting in special chambers.
