STONE CRUSHING (ESWL)
Information about kidney stones Kidney stones
formed by oxalate crystals in urine can be as big as sand or ping-pong
ball. Small stones can be easily removed from the kidney. Large ones
cause severe pain when traveling from the kidneys to the bladder. Sudden and
agonizing pain is felt in the upper and anterior part of the chest, under the
ribs. Sweating and vomiting can also be seen. The color of the urine
is cloudy and sometimes bloody.
The kidneys are a pair of fist-sized, bean-like organs located on either side
of the spine just below the ribs. Their main function is to filter the
excess water and waste matter of the blood. These substances are
transferred from the kidney to the bladder (bladder) in the form of urine
through channels called ureters, and from here they are excreted via the
urethra.
They can cause severe pain and sometimes create dangerous
blockages that can prevent urine passage.
It is a very common disease. It is seen in 10-15% of
men and on average 5% of women. It usually occurs at the age of 20-30
years. Especially in men, 2/3 of men who have had stones once recur within
an average of 9 years.
Causes of kidney stones are not known
precisely. Some researchers say that drinking water that is too hard (too
much calcium sulphate content) or too soft (too much sodium carbonate content)
may have an effect. Excessive alcohol consumption, gout disease
Some researchers claim that kidney stones are more common
in hot climates that cause excessive fluid loss, and another group of special
foods cause kidney stones.
