In aesthetic upper eyelid surgery, it is possible to remove fat bags with excess skin on the
upper eyelid.
In aesthetic lower eyelid surgery, excess and fat bags are removed from the skin. However,
when there is additional pitting with bagging, some fat bags are taken. The
remainder is used to fill these pits. Thus, pitting is corrected together
with bagging.
When blepharoplasty is performed without any other aesthetic intervention, the
operation for the lower and upper eyelids takes 2-3 hours.
Except for the pain relieved with painkillers on the same day after the operation, not
much pain is expected. The patient is discharged after staying on the same
day or overnight.
Swelling and bruises are seen on the eyelids and around the eyes, which usually pass within
1-2 weeks. Stitches are removed 5-7 days later. The patient usually
returns to work and daily life after a few days.
In the upper eyelid, there are incisions in the upper eyelid fold, and in the lower eyelid,
at the bottom of the eyelashes. However, it does not cause a disturbing
scar in the long run.
