How do the operations related to general surgery?

These interventions take place in
fully-organized operating rooms. Before the intervention, nurses, doctors,
assistants and students are ready. Uniforms, masks and caps are available
to all staff in the operating room. Clothes specially produced for general
surgery are worn. It is cleaned every time. Cleaning is the most
important issue before surgery.

The first stage is anesthesia. The
patient should report important discomfort before surgery. Necessary
reports are taken from the departments dealing with these ailments. In
general anesthesia, the patient is put to sleep. In local anesthesia,
regional anesthesia is in question. The part to be operated should be
shaved. It should also be cleaned with a sterile substance. The
patient’s clothes are removed completely and the surgical gown is put on. The
cover with a hole in the middle is covered in the area to be operated.

Open or laser system is preferred in
intervention procedures. Cutting is done regionally. Vascular
ligation or cautery methods prevent bleeding. In surgical interventions,
the bone is sometimes cut. In heart surgery, the rib cage is cut, and in
brain surgery, the skull is cut. All these cutting operations are
performed with special surgical tools. General surgery department can
examine all parts of the body. Some fracture cases are considered in this
category.

Organ or cyst removal is performed in surgical
procedures. Damaged areas in the body are treated with procedures such as
cauterization and stitching. Technically, many methods are preferred. All
these methods are evaluated according to the patient’s condition.

State of patients after surgery

Surgical interventions have different
characteristics. Some of the patients who come out of the operation are
taken into intensive care. In this section, the patient is kept under
constant control. When the patient comes out of anesthesia, he stays in
the intensive care unit for a while. Patients in this department are
followed up regularly. The change of the sick diaper and the food needs of
the patients are carried out by the staff. Doctors regularly check the
patient’s progress. The patient stays in the intensive care unit until he
becomes normal. General surgery intensive care unit serves in this
category. When the patient shows improvement, he is taken to the normal
section. As long as the patient maintains his seriousness, he remains in
intensive care. In some cases, the patient can be
re-operated. Emergency intervention may be required, especially in serious
patients. There are no visitors to the intensive care unit.

Graft removal is performed especially in patients with
cancer. The sample taken in this process is sent to the pathology
department. This section analyzes the sample. According to the
pathology analysis results, a new treatment schedule is created for the
patient. General surgeons specialize in removing parts from cancerous
tissues (tumor). After the patient’s treatment is approved, he is
discharged in a short time.
