General surgery is a medical branch that includes general
principles (such as wound healing, metabolic and endocrine response to injury)
as well as the treatment of systemic and local problems in the body with
surgical methods and has influenced many surgical and basic medicine branches
in terms of their development.

The types of surgery are often referred to by the name of the organ or the system it is
connected to. Goiter (thyroid gland), breast, esophagus (esophagus),
stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, anus, hernias, liver, gall
bladder, bile ducts, endoscopic and laparoscopic surgical interventions are
included in this area. When divided according to systems; Goiter
surgeries, breast surgeries, esophagus, stomach, duodenum, small intestine,
large intestine, rectum and anus region surgeries, liver and hernia surgeries
are covered by the Dora Hospital General Surgery Unit. In some cases, the
department also aims to prevent surgery with only preventive medicine.

General Surgery Department works in cooperation and coordination with many disciplines. Most
of their patients are cancer cases. We collaborate with Gastroenterology,
Radiology / Interventional Radiology, Pathology, Medical and Radiation Oncology
in the planning of diagnosis, surgery and subsequent treatment stages for these
patients.

One of the departments that Dora Hospital General Surgery Department cooperates with most
is traumatology. Multiple organ system injuries are frequently included in
patients with trauma. In this respect, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Urology,
Cardiovascular Surgery departments are acting together. General Surgery
Department undertakes the coordination of all these branches of medicine,
especially in severe multi-organ injuries.
