system diseases. This specialist is called a gastroenterologist. The

dealing with esophagus, stomach, small intestines, large intestines, liver,

seeks solutions for known diseases of these organs such as ulcer, gastritis,
jaundice, cirrhosis, spastic colon (irritable bowel syndrome: IBS), gallstones
and inflammation, gastrointestinal cancers, hemorrhoids (yeast, hemorrhoids).

It is the process of observing the upper part of the

tube called a gastroscope. During this procedure, the esophagus, stomach
and duodenum can be examined and photographs of internal organs can be taken if
necessary. An empty stomach is mandatory for examination. Therefore,
no food should be taken 8 hours before the procedure, and water should not be
drunk unless it is very necessary. Patients with drug allergy, valvular
heart disease, and lung disease should report their condition to the
doctor. In addition, the doctor can take tissue samples from the lesions
he sees during the procedure (biopsy). The parts taken are carefully
examined by the pathologist doctor under the microscope and a definite
diagnosis is made.

Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy, in the simplest terms, is the imaging
process of the large intestine. During colonoscopy, the patient is put to
sleep and the large intestine is examined from the anus with a flexible tube
with a light at the end. Colonoscopy, which allows the identification of
inflammatory bowel diseases, is not only an examination but also a treatment
method. In addition to those who have symptoms of colon cancer, anyone
over the age of 50 who does not have any complaints should have a colonoscopy
for screening.

ERCP

ERCP (Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) is
used in the diagnosis and treatment of stones and tumors that may cause biliary
tract inflammation (cholangitis), pancreatitis (pancreatitis) by causing
stenosis or obstruction in the biliary tract and pancreatic duct. The
intervention is made using a videoendoscopic device (Duodenoscope). The
process is carried out in a period ranging from 20 minutes to an
hour. Before the procedure, the patient is examined and the necessary
tests are seen. The person to be ERCP should be hungry for at least 8
hours before the procedure. In addition, if there are drugs that dilute
blood such as Aspirin and Coumadin, they should be discontinued one week before
the procedure.
