We provide professional support in Obesity surgery center.
Obesity Surgery includes a number of surgeries performed for the treatment of excess weight. These are basically surgeries in which some changes are made in the digestive
system. Today, all of them can be performed by laparoscopic, that is,
The most important cause of obesity is excessive food consumption, which leads
to excessive calorie intake. When fat accumulates above a certain rate in
the body, the metabolism is completely shaken and the saturation point
In operations that fall within the scope of obesity surgery, we basically
perform two procedures. One of these is to reduce the volume of the
stomach. When you get 100 ml of a stomach that normally takes 1-1.5
liters, you ensure that the patient is saturated with very small amounts of
food. It is this feeling of satiety that makes obesity surgery superior to
other methods. Because, whether you call it a diet or a healthy diet, all
the methods suggested to the patient are doomed to fail because of hunger and
feeling of not being satiated.
Another procedure we do is to shorten the length of the intestine where food is
digested by creating a new transition between the stomach and small intestine
in some types of surgery. No part of the intestine is removed here, only
the food coming from the stomach, the small intestine 1.5-2. Its
absorption is reduced by being attached to its mistress.
The most common operation in the first group is laparoscopic sleeve gastrostomy. It
is more commonly known as tube stomach. No apparatus or tube is attached
to the stomach here. The large part of the stomach, 85% of it, is cut
out. Since the remaining stomach looks like a thin tube, the operation is
called a tube stomach.
The most known operation of the other group, the absorption-reducing group, is
gastric bypass. In this surgery, the stomach is reduced. The small
stomach pocket is attached to the lower level of the small intestine. The
purpose of this is to ensure that some of the fat and calorie content of foods
are excreted without being absorbed.
This group of surgeries has the strongest effect on obesity-related metabolic
diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. As
in others, without waiting to lose weight, blood sugar regulates, blood
pressure decreases and blood fat levels return to normal levels. Diabetic
foot, kidney problems, and our patients with a blood sugar of around 450, stop
using insulin and blood pressure medications after surgery.
Nowadays, thanks to the developments in technology, all these operations can be
performed without opening the abdomen, only 4-5 incisions, the largest of which
is 1 cm. In this way, postoperative comfort of the patients has increased
a lot. In this way, our patients can return to their normal lives within
5-7 days at most.
