Ovarian Cysts and Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cysts are one of the main diagnoses made in
patients admitted to obstetrics outpatient clinics. Although most of these
are benign ovarian cysts, the most feared is that they may turn into cancer or
already become cancerous.

Ovarian cysts can be roughly classified as benign,
malignant, and borderline malignant.

Although treatment options vary according to age and the
nature of the cyst, most of them will disappear spontaneously with regular follow-up.

Some ovarian cysts that are thought to be benign do not
disappear on their own, although rarely, and they may even require emergency
treatment with symptoms such as pain, rapid growth, and torsion.

Small and painless ovarian cysts are sometimes noticed
only during the examination without any symptoms. Therefore, it is
important for women who do not have any complaints to have regular
gynecological examinations.

We know that most ovarian cysts disappear spontaneously
without any treatment.

Herbal containing cures can be mistakenly perceived as
beneficial for these potentially disappearing cysts. Based on our current
medical knowledge, we think that herbal treatments should be approached very
cautiously, especially in terms of delaying a possible cancer treatment.

Ovarian Cyst Symptoms

Since the abdominal cavity is very large, ovarian cysts
do not show symptoms unless they reach very large sizes. Symptoms, on the
other hand, mostly cause vague complaints such as menstrual irregularity, groin
pain, bloating and frequent urination.

Malignant ovarian cysts cause complaints such as rapid
weight change, loss of appetite, fatigue and weakness.

Closed system operation (laparoscopy) is the most
recommended method in the surgical treatment of ovarian cysts. Cysts are
removed with fine tools by entering through the belly button. At the same
time, some cysts known to be benign can be evacuated from the vagina with a
needle. These operations can be done on a day-to-day basis and we can
quickly return to our daily routines.

The treatment and operation of ovarian cancers are much
more detailed and larger, and then auxiliary methods such as chemotherapy are
also added to the treatment.
